This books presents the first two major works of Lev S. Vygotsky, in which his theory of the dramatic structure of mind is advanced, and in which he claims art's central role in the formation of emotions and meaning-making processes.

"William Shakespeare's Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark" is a young Vygotsky's graduation thesis, and showcases his personal and vital approach to the great English playwright ("an openly subjective critic, devoid of pretensions", in Vygotsky's own words).

"Psychology of Art" represents one of the fundamental pillars of psychological literature; in it, the author claims the importance of the scientific study of artistic and creative thought, underscoring their influence in shaping the human psychic system.

After a period in which the Spanish edition of the classic work of Vygotski has been out print and uncatalogued, this corrected edition includes the original prologue that A. N. Leontiev wrote for the Russian edition, the editors' presentation (which situates the work in historical cultural thought's current context), and some of the literary texts cited by Vygotsky.
