Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje is pleased to announce that Prof. Giuseppe Carrus will become the new Editor-in-Chief of PsyEcology, Bilingual Journal of Environmental Psychology starting April 1st, 2026.
Prof. Carrus’ career spans more than three decades in the field of Environmental Psychology. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1997, where he also completed his PhD in 2002. In 2005 he became full time Researcher at the Department of Education Sciences, Roma Tre University. Currently, he is Full Professor of Social Psychology at the same Department.
He has actively participated in several international research networks and associations, such as the International Association for People-Environment Studies (IAPS), where he has acted as Secretary and he is currently a member of the international Board. He has been the chairman of the 25th IAPS Conference held in Rome in 2018, and of the 3rd ICEP (International Conference on Environmental Psychology), held in Syracuse in 2021.
His research as an enviromental psychologist has been dedicated to a wide scope of themes around the relationship between humans and the environment, such as wellbeing, identity, restorative environments, connectedness to nature, pro-environmental attitudes and behavior, energy choices, emotion regulation, mindfulness and sustainable lifestyles.
His works has been published in the most relevant and prestigious journals, both in environmental psychology, as well as in social and environmental sciences journals, such as Environment and Behavior, Journal of Environmental Psychology, Frontiers in Psychology, PsyEcology, Energy Research & Social Science, Scientific Reports, Environmental Research, Global Environmental Change, Landscape and Urban Planning.
As an erudite and knowledgeable scholar, Prof. Carrus’ impressive range of research interests showcases his inquisitive approach to human behavior and social psychological processes, with keen insights about social and enviromental conditions, historical perspective, and future outlooks – lining up with FIA’s mission as a non-for-profit Foundation dedicated to “the development of human sciences and their social implications and extensions, by fostering research on human change and on the sociocultural transformations currently taking place”.
He has ample editorial experience, having collaborated with a wide range of international peer-reviewed journals – most recently he has been Chief Editor and Associate Editor of the Environmental Psychology section in Frontiers in Psychology journal. Moreover, his long-standing tenure as an Editorial Board member of PsyEcology, along with his close professional relationship with many of the members of the journal’s Editorial Board and its Associate Editors, ensures that his work with the journal, now as Editor-in-Chief, is built on an intimate, dedicated knowledge of its readership and its author base.
Prof. Carrus’ robust career, diverse research focus, and editorial experience ensure the continuity and the growth of the journal as an internationally relevant showcase of the latest research on environmental psychology throughout the world.
Prof. Carrus will build on the inestimable work of the previous editorial team, under the leadership of Prof. Juan Ignacio Aragonés, outgoing Editor-in-Chief of PsyEcology. Prof. Aragonés has led the journal into an established position as a go-to reference in the field of environmental psychology, earning its first Impact Factor, widening its reader's and author's base, and increasing its quality and depth. We thank Prof. Aragonés for his excellent service to the journal over the last years. |
