Active reference systems link citations across online contents of different publishers by assigning a digital object identifier (DOI) to each electronic text. The active reference systems, implemented on FIA´s content allow the vinculation between FIA´s articles and the world´s most important documentary services.
The FIA Online Service includes two active reference systems: the Active Reference Linking, which is automatically implemented by our online operator ingenta-CachWord, and CrossRef, the new standard shared by the members of the PILA (Publishers International Linking Association), which the FIA joined in 2001.
